Ms., Mr., Manager, Sir, Ma’am, Atty., Dr, Officer, Boss, Dame— these are only some of the titles we hear at work. We have gendered titles, determined by biology and later redefined by gender identity. We have achieved titles through learning, practice and licensing. Some titles are awarded with pomp and celebration. Then there are titles organically assigned by other people.
